Community Support and Broader Based Giving

Polycorp is committed to community involvement and broader based giving. Polycorp recognizes that it is integrated with the social fabric of the community, and supports local suppliers, academic institutions, and other organizations.

Community Support

Polycorp became the first corporate sponsor of the Power of Play project to refurbish Stait Park in Fergus into a fully accessible park for people with disabilities, the first of its kind in the Centre of Wellington.

Polycorp was also the first Gold Sponsor for the first fully accessible playground constructed at South Ridge Park in Elora.

Community Support

Polycorp is a proud supporter of the New Groves Hospital Project in Fergus Ontario. Groves Hospital is an integral institution in the community, servicing residents within Centre Wellington. In recognition of Polycorp’s ongoing contributions, the Rehabilitation Services Treatment Area within the hospital, will be named Polycorp Ltd. Construction is already well underway and completion of the Project is scheduled for late 2020.

Polycorp supports the Centre of Wellington Food Bank, and in addition to financial support, Polycorp supplies the Food Bank with bread on a weekly basis.

In addition to sponsoring the Hooked on Miracles Fishing Tournament benefiting the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, Polycorp is proud to be a longtime supporter of both the Art of Caring for Emily’s House (Toronto’s first children’s hospice), as well as major sponsor of the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation.

Community Support

Polycorp’s broader based giving can be felt as far away as Africa where the Mining Team encountered a school near a mine site that they were servicing, in need of help. Polycorp provided the school in Ghana with cooking stove chimneys for the school kitchen in addition to providing the students with exercise books, bags, water bottles and water filters.

Polycorp is a sponsor of The Big Dig in Phoenix Arizona, providing children with terminally ill cancer the opportunity to use heavy earth moving equipment.

Strong University Ties

Polycorp sponsors co-op internships with local colleges and universities. In addition to supporting engineering undergraduate team projects at Queen’s University, Polycorp has also supported MBA project teams from both York University and Wilfrid Laurier University, and underwrites undergraduate awards (recognizing the contributions of valued employees) including:

Polycorp supports mining research and PhD students at the University of Utah, sponsoring research projects to model flow in mining pulp lifter channels augmenting exclusive alliances with Dr. Raj Rajamani, Department Metallurgical Engineering University of Utah, and Dr. Jose Delgadillo, Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi in Mexico.

Funds raised by Mining for Miracles, of which Hooked on Miracles is a fundraising arm, will go to support BC Children’s Hospital’s Gut4Health program for the 2019 and 2020 campaigns.

Since 2014, Polycorp has been a proud supporter of the VASS (Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports) in support of Brenden Parker, who has advanced Cerebral Palsy. Brenden created the motorcycle fundraiser, which has raised funds that go to local charities empowering people with disabilities.

Polycorp is an annual supporter of the Make a Wish Foundation granting life-changing wishes for children with a critical illness.
